I seriously doubt our religion forbids us in marrying other races/religions. Look at my family, my dad is catholic and my step mom isn't.

even so, i would not want to marry a gal of another religion. i would either marry a free thinker or one of the same religion.

no, no. we have to remember that in the old times, a man only courted a lady if he wanted to marry her. i think things such as dating didn't exist. we can date them and during that time (which should be more than a year, of course!) if God really does want him/her to marry you, I'm sure he'd change their hearts, but of course we have to introduce God to them!
sorry it was a type. should marry christians. but marriage is something sanctioned by God, a gift. how can you marry someone who doesn't believe in this blessing? a marriage is not just between two people, its between 3 beings... two human, and God

oh my dad says you can get a "dispention" which is permission. he also says that one of the things is when you marry a non-christian, you marry on a human level. Isn't marriage one of the seven sacraments? That is a clear indication that marriage is with God, through God and in God.

i'd say yes. why not?
u can marry anyone u want. but what u do during and before the marriage is another thing.
i dont think there is a right or wrong answer in this.
anyways if u want a debate on this please start a new thread. this is out of point here.

another reason why not mixing can cos so much trouble. u seee when a group of people dun understand another persons culture or beliefs he might say something that will hurt or cos an uproar?

personally. i go against that mentality. i agree strongly in mixing it up. stirring uproar that is only if people are stereotyping each other and are ignorant. if not there's no reason why we wont understand each other's culture in singapore. we are multi racial since we were born. i dont think people are too stupid...ha.

i agree with ed. i think uproars result from ignorance of other people's culture. i'm not sure there really is an excuse for ignorance most of the time. even if we don't understand, we shouldn't be quick to take offence or whatever. you know?

yeah. exactly. no excuse of being ignorant. yeah see...timmy in this singapore there is no excuse because we are multi racial, unless we meet someone from mexico or peru then a problem would indefinitely occur, but even so due to globalisation, u'd would still be ignorant to not understand certain cultures, like calling a mexican, nasty names which is so commercialised these days.
i think as far as races are concerned, it is our own step to recognise and stop living in a 4 raced country but look further because the world is globalising ever quickly.

hHAHAHAH YEAH 4 RACED COUNTRY IS RIGHT. in Nz, we had a LOT of people. like a lot of filipinos, koreans, spanish, kiwis, ozzies, americans, english, etc. just all rojak and it was so cool. here i come and you have well, 4.
also. one cool quote i shall add to the quotes thread as well. my lit teacher said "all prejudice stems from ignorance"
ignorance can cause fear or the unfamiliar, and fear can cause you to shun what you don't know.

erm amanda, we are a 4 raced country because that is the what singapore in general is made off. we do have filipinos, KOREANS, japanese, brits, whatever u name it we've got it. so its not so different in fact we are even more receptive to different races mixing and matching so i think it was pretty ignorant to say that its arr we have only 4 race in singapore.
my bet is that nz is a single raced country in general. look at swiss they are like singapore, 4 main races make up the country and the foreigns expats and immigrants are the rest. but the 4 main are the people who brought up the country, people who make up the majority.
