err timmy please go to armenian street chinatown or kampong glam. or even city hall, you will be amazed by how well our government have put intact some of the able to be salvaged buildings in perfect shape.
reason why some buildings are torn down was because it could no longer be inhabited and we have land scarce problem. places like bishan were back then a cemetry there was nothing really to rip apart. AMK all the way to woodlands were all farms. not much of bulidings. the only really fanciful ones were in town. And so please head on down on a heritage tour someday and you'd be surprised by the revelation.
