Timmy had a question.
"hey i jus wanna ask something? if u read the bible rite? God talks to the ppl so easily and they know staright away its him?
it was so easy for them to jus like have a convo with God, but why issit so hard for us to listen and hear him? "

i suppose in the bible, only the people God 'chose' to talk to more directly than others had their story told.
i mean, there are very few instances where the is someone asking 'why doesn't God talk to me like he talks to that guy?'
in our lives, perhaps we're too impatient to wait for God to talk to us or it's just too loud around us we can't hear Him. i know for me i have a very short attention span and get impatient fast. very rarely is it actually Quiet Time for me, more like, Soft time.. were the volume of my world is turned down and not on mute so i can focus on Jesus.
Point 1.

point 2. (I'm breaking my sharing into multiple post, if your attention span is as big as mine, it helps.)
God 'speaks' to us in many ways. a few examples are:
1. Through the Bible 2. Through our friends and family 3. Through signs and wonders 4. Through 'our sudden realizations and revelations of the universe'
but again, we can't hear Him unless we listen. and wait patiently, continually praying.
most times it will be little prompts from the Holy Spirit. but you will know when God calls you (directly). because he will call you by Name. like He did for Abraham and Samuel.
Hope that helps your pondering Tim, i don't have the very accurate answers, you could ask God and listen out for the answer.
God bless.

Thanks andrew for sharing...
And I think the impatient thing is really really true. But I think thats the nature of some of us. Whenever we ask someone something, we expect a quick reply, or else we spam spam spam...we totally dont give the person a chance to speak.
I think in any relationship there's the need for some space for anyone to return a msg, I guess waiting in this case is one answer. Waiting patiently that is.

haha and don't forget... PUSH! Pray Until Something Happens.
But yeah. Also I think the world can be too noisy most of the time. Thats why I find QT great and what that catchist Shirleen Khong said...you need time when you're NOT doing anything each day.
Just time just for him. just for him. I mean, you can talk to him at anytime of the day but I think we all need a designated time of the day when we just spend it with him and nothing else.
Also. Actually, I believe that God does talk to us. To each differently. for me, he speaks strongly through events in my life... through little everyday things and my quiet time...repeition. I mean nothing happens by chance so the repeition of things MUST mean something right?

haha i spend alot of time doing really absolutely NOTHING, on most other days. which is not good because i'm becoming a total bum. i gotta be careful not to overindulge in that. yea and i replied to timmy's post on the actual thread but anyway i feel that to listen to God more effectively you gotta be in tune with him first, on a daily basis, that means regularly qting or journalism, then you will being to have the heart and mind of God so that you will know his thoughts and he will know yours (i mean he knows yours 24/7).
i think one important thing to note is also that we must be aware of our voices firsthand, what we are thinking about and what we are inclined to think. because knowing ourselves first, we can be clear about our own voices so that it does not drown out God's. once we've set ourselves right internally, with good intentions and thought processes, then we can go to God. i feel it helps. and if you're trying to differentiate God's voice from the devil's, you can always think "Does God want this?" or "If God were here what would he say?".
